What was their challenge?
The client came to us with a challenge: to minimize the quality and compliance issues in the multilingual technical documentation of their complex product line – TRANSCATHETER HEART VALVES – that might eventually lead to product recalls or liability issues in foreign markets.
How did we solve it?
We took the initiative and customized the translation standard for their complex product line, TRANSCATHETER HEART VALVES, by:
- Recycling existing translation memories (TMs) of other medical projects, which ensures correct and consistent terminology, style, etc. throughout the documentation and helps us reduce the overall translation time and cost.
- Creating and updating regularly the specific terminology glossary of more than 1 700 approved positions, which keeps the terminology correct and consistent throughout the documentation.
- Developing Linguistic Compliance StyleGuides to ensure that the translated documentation meets all linguistic rules and requirements in their target markets (lexis, style, locale, grammar, etc.).
What was the result?
For Edwards Lifesciences, we took the initiative and helped to minimize the risk of product documentation quality issues and non-compliance that might eventually lead to product recalls or liability issues in foreign markets. In the translation process of their TRANSCATHETER HEART VALVES’ documentation, we created their specific terminology glossaries and developed Linguistic Compliance StyleGuides to ensure the translated documentation meets all linguistic rules and requirements in their target markets (lexis, style, locale, grammar, etc.).
